It's perfectly fine!

静岡知事 「飲用茶にすれば問題ない」 仏での放射性物質検出受け

The Governor of Fukuoka "If you make tea from it, and drink it, it's fine" RE the discovery of radioactive materials in a local tea export to France

"Even if the produced tea had ratings of 1000 Bq, if you dilute the tea in boiling water like you would to drink it, it comes out to only 10 Bq. It's perfectly fine to drink." say the results of an individual study within the prefecture reinforcing the safety of their local products.
Furthermore the governor announced that he would "secure the information, and expediently monitor the export routes."

そんな理屈が国際的に通用するのか?

Do you think this logic will pass on the international stage?

  1. Radiation has to be a serious issue there right now. I haven't heard about the power plants recently. How is that situation going?

  3. It is hard to get reliable news about the power plants.
The most recent, reliable news is that because of rising radioactivity levels they had to stop pouring water into the cooling tank.

The core containment tank of one of the power plants was slightly damaged bipasssing all of the safety measures.

The question is whether the dangerous radioactivity levels are do to the leaking containment tank or because, as some sources report, there are inordinate levels of spent fuel in the cooling tank.

Unfortunately at times like this, the news and everyone are very reactionary and talking shit.

Fukusima (the prefecture where the power plants were hit) has yet to issue an evacuation notice.

  5. "It probably won't kill you", doesn't really allay my concerns. I can see the japanese feel the same way.
